Davana

  • Benefits:
It helps a person to get out of stress and stay relaxed. The oil is also neuro-relaxant which treats tension, stress, depression and other problems. This fights against the viral diseases like cold, cough and influenza. It also aids wound healing cough and problematic menstruation.  

  • Instructions for use:

The flowers of the davana plant are used for its fragrance and are often utilized in making perfumes, cosmetics and in food industry. The essence is also used in flavoring beverages.

  • History and Information:

The plant was first cultivated at Tamil Nadu in India. Previously the flowers of the plant were offered in prayers to the Indian god.  It is about 40 to 60 meters of height. The plant is rarely grown naturally as the seeds are delicate hence specially cultivated in India and exported to other countries. It is now commonly used in nations like Germany, Japan, France and United states.  In order to produce essential oil the flowers are used in steam distillation process.
