Subtitle: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.46 Review
Summary: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.46,freeware, small download, easy installation, less time to scan system, most used and suggested, daily update and an effective security software.
Keywords: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.46
Sometime it becomes hard to install security software on malware infected system. Rescue CD as a possible solution is offered when asked to vendor. But sometimes they advise using a free third-party program. More often they suggest Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware 1.46 (free, direct).
It’s less than 6 megabytes a small download. Take less time to install and update. That's the difference from products like Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus 2010 ($39.95 direct), which needs a lengthy preliminary update pursue by still another update after registration.
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.46 doesn’t even show the common status screen. It opens at the scanner page; ready to do its job which itself is speedy. Quick Scan is recommended, but even the Full Scan takes just 12 minutes. Norton AntiVirus 2010 ($39.95 direct) scans the new test system in a half hour.
Malwarebytes, installed without trouble on all my systems. There occurred problem with one system regarding updates which I resolved by manually downloading the update files. That's surely a good start!
Malwarebytes hasn't checked by the labs I normally rely on. I suppose, that fits with its low-key style.
, Malwarebytes identified 80 percent of the malware samples in my own testing, Norton detected 86 percent and Spyware Doctor saw 88 percent. Malwarebytes achieved 7.3 of 10 possible points for malware removal although it discovered less than the others, whereas Norton and Spyware Doctor scored 7.1. Malwarebytes did a good job.
To remove keyloggers isn’t a priority for the app but it attempts to confiscate keyloggers., Malwarebytes detected just 29 percent of the keyloggers compared to 86 percent for Norton and 92 percent for Spyware Doctor in a test. So Malwarebytes got 2.9 points, Norton 6.6, and Spyware Doctor 7.0.
Rootkit technology is often used by the worst threats. Almost half the rootkit samples were missed by Malwarebytes and missing some of those it did discovered still running. It scored 4.0 on this test, pretty insipid next to Spyware Doctor's 9.0 points or Norton's 7.7.
Another kind of current irritation that can be tough to get rid of is Scareware. Malwarebytes with 8.1 points has beaten the others at scareware elimination, a bursting point over Norton's 7.1 and Spyware Doctor took third place, with 6.9 points.
You can rapidly install Malwarebytes if you're having problem with software as it is free, and use it to help clean up. It's weak against keyloggers and rootkits but quite effective overall.
